FIFA 20 players have a new competitive event to look forward to. We are talking about PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Open Series. This event debuted in 2019. Following the positive feedback from the participants and community, Sony decided to hold the games this year as well. The event is played entirely online.
Players can enter various competitions to win rewards and fame. The team in charge of organizing this tournament took community's feedback into consideration when coming up with this year's event. PlayStation4 Tournaments: Open Series will include weekly qualifiers. Players will get rewards for taking part in the tournament. There's also the opportunity to get rewards that depend on the results from various games.
PlayStation4 Tournaments: Open Series feature six more games in addition to FIFA 20. Players can complete in Mortal Kombat 11, SoulCalibur VI, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, NBA 2K20, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. All these titles have a strong competitive component. Those who enter the tournament have the chance to get prizes each month.
Speaking of participants, it seems like all PS4 players can join provided they have a PS Plus subscription that is required for online play. There doesn't seem to be any regional restrictions. Those who achieve good results when taking part in FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, and CoD: Modern Warfare games will get the chance to take part in more events. The players must be from Europe and North America to join these featured games. These events are PlayStation hosted broadcasts. Only the best participants get an invitation to these select events.
The tournament is based on weekly events and a monthly final. Players will take part in weekly qualifiers that give them the chance to qualify for the final. If you don't make it, there's always the next week or month. All participants are winners but, as you can imagine, the prizes depend on the performance. Those who participate get a PlayStation4 theme and avatar.
There's a new theme for each qualifier. If you manage to be among the top 40%, you get the elite version of the theme. Players who complete in a monthly final get a different theme. Champion themes are reserved for those who have great achievements in this tournament. Themes are nice but there's more. Those who score a weekly qualifier win get $100. The prize pool for the monthly final is $1,000. PlayStation4 Tournaments: Open Series begin June 1st.
